Leisure Pool Swimming - Do I need to book online?

Yes, you need to book online and you must book a place for all those who will be attending with you. 

Access will only be given to those with booked places.  Anyone attending without a place will not be guaranteed entry.  Please do not bring additional people with you who do not have a place booked. 

If you are unable to book online you can visit site in advance of the date you want to swim and a member of our our team will assist you so that you can make a booking. 

If you turn up to swim without an advanced booking we will not be able to guarantee entry.  If sessions are full you will need to wait for the next available space.

Leisure Pool Swimming - Can I change my booking?

We offer flexi-tickets if you make an account at the time of booking.  This means you will be able to go back into your booking and make changes to date and time up to 12 hours before the booking start time.  If you do not make an account you will not be able to make changes.

Leisure Pool Swimming - What is a flexi-ticket?

The flexi-ticket allows customers to amend their Leisure Pool swim bookings up to 12 hours prior to their booked session by logging into their online account. There is no additional fee for making booking amendments.

All customers wishing to use this option will need to create an online account on the checkout screen when making their first booking. All subsequent bookings can be made by logging into your account.

Please note: we do not offer any ticket refunds.

Please note, customers can only amend session dates and/or times of existing bookings subject to availability. Changes to ticket types or cancellation of all or any tickets is not permitted.

Leisure Pool Swimming - Can I get a refund for my booking?

No, bookings are not refundable, but if you make an account you can make changes to your booking date and time up to 12 hours before the booking start time.  If you do not make an account you will not be able to make any changes.

Leisure Pool Swimming - Where do I need to go when I arrive?

When you arrive at Leisure World, you'll need to report to our main reception desk in our Welcome Zone to check-in for your session. 

Leisure Pool Swimming - When do I need to arrive for my session?

Please arrive approx. 15 mins before the start time of your session.  Please allow time to find a parking space, at peak times our car park does get busy.  

Leisure Pool Swimming - What do I need to bring with me?

Remember to bring your 8-digit booking reference or show your ticket barcode on your mobile at check-in so that we can locate your booking.

You will need a combination padlock to use our lockers.  If you did not purchase one at the time of booking, please bring your own combination padlock (do not bring a key operated padlock as keys will not be allowed in the pools).  Padlocks must fit through an internal diameter of 9mm on the Hasp and Clasp ‘ring’.  Padlocks can be purchased on arrival (subject to availability). 

Leisure Pool Swimming - What do I need to bring in order to use a locker for the Leisure Pool?

You will need a combination padlock to use the Leisure Pool lockers.  If you did not purchase one at the time of booking, please bring your own combination padlock (do not bring a key operated padlock as keys will not be allowed in the pools).  Padlocks must fit through an internal diameter of 9mm on the Hasp and Clasp ‘ring’.  Padlocks can be purchased on arrival (subject to availability). 

 

Leisure Pool Swimming - What if I am late for my session?

The session times are fixed, so if you arrive late you will miss some of your time in the pool.

Leisure Pool Swimming - How long is each session?

Leisure Pool swim sessions are 90 minutes, this allows for a minimum of 1hour 10 mins pool time, plus changing time.  Please note: the last session each day is 60 minutes only.

We recommend you arrive 'beach ready' for all sessions.

A coloured band system will be in operation.  An announcement will be made and a coloured sign displayed when your session has finished instructing you to leave the pool.

Leisure Pool Swimming - When do the flumes operate?

Flumes are in operation during all Leisure Pool swim sessions (excl. parent and toddler sessions)
 

Leisure Pool Swimming - When do the rapids operate?

The rapids are currently closed for essential maintenance.

 

 

Leisure Pool Swimming - I already have at Leisure World Leisure Card account, do I still need to create an account?

Your Leisure Card account is not connected to this online booking system, therefore, if you wish to take advantage of Flexi-tickets you will need to create an account on this system.

Pool Inflatable Session/Inflatable Private Hire - What is the inflatable assault course?

Burn off some energy, races and family fun on the water in our safe and supervised environment in our Fitness Pool. Climb on board and tackle the obstacles to reach the end, building water confidence and skills for life, in a fun, safe and enjoyable way. All participants will be given a lifejacket at the safety brief.

Pool Inflatable session/Inflatable Private Hire - How long is each session?

Inflatable Sessions Fun on our inflatable in the fitness pool. Our sessions last for an hour and a half this includes a 15 minute safety brief which will take place in our Teaching Pool Viewing Area. We will allow you through up to 10 minutes early to allow for changing.  We recommend you arrive 'beach ready'.

Inflatable Private Hire - Enjoy exclusive hire of our fitness pool with use of our inflatable this includes a 15 minute safety brief which will take place in our Teaching Pool Viewing Area. Sessions last for an hour and a half. We will allow you through up to 10 minutes early to allow for changing.  We recommend you arrive 'beach ready'.

Pool Inflatable Session/Inflatable Private hire - What do I need to use the Fitness Pool Lockers?

You will need a locker token or £1 coin to operate the Fitness Pool lockers.  You can buy a token at the time of your visit (subject to availability).

Pool Inflatable Private Hire - How many swimmers can I bring?

The Inflatable Private Hire allows up to 55 swimmers aged 5+ within the Fitness Pool and Diving Pit.

If you book including the Teaching Pool you can have upto 89 swimmers. The teaching pool is for children aged below 5 years old and must be accompanied by an adult at a ration of 1:2.

Will I have to queue?

You may need to join a small check-in queue in our Welcome Zone.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is a car park at Leisure World.  Car parking enforcement is in operation.  You will need to register your parking stay on our iPads after you have checked-in for your swimming session.  You will need your car registration number to register.  Please see tariff boards on arrival for more information. Refunds for paid parking sessions will not be given.  Failure to register and activate your parking may result in a penalty charge.

I require the assistance of a carer what do I need to do?

Carers are admitted free of charge to assist you with your personal needs and to accompany you during your activities if required. Please book a carer ticket at time of booking.  Evidence required at check-in.

I have a paper voucher I wish to use, what do I need to do?

If you have a paper voucher please bring this with you when you check-in and as long as the voucher is still valid we will refund part or all of your booking cost as applicable.

Holiday Camp - How do I pay for a camp?

Holiday Camp bookings and payments are all done through our online booking system by debit or credit card.  

Please check our website for the process of paying by childcare vouchers.

Holiday Camp - Can I book more than one date?

Yes, you can book more than one date.  However, you will need to add each date separately to your basket.  Therefore, please add how many children who will be attending on the first date you require, once you have added this to the basket, you can select ‘Continue Shopping’ to add more dates.  Once your order is complete, go to your basket and check-out.   

Please note: You will need to complete a Holiday Camp Information form for each child per order, therefore, if you order multiple dates on one order you will only need to complete the information once for that order for each child. If you place separate orders for each date you will need to complete and submit the Holiday Camp Information form for each order for each child.  So if you want to save time, book all dates you need on one order! 

Holiday Camp - What is the Holiday Camp Information Form?

This form is where we obtain personal information about your child, including all contact details and any medical history and medication.  

You will need to complete a Holiday Camp Information form for each child per order, therefore, if you order multiple dates on one order you will only need to complete the information once for that order for each child. If you place separate orders for each date you will need to complete and submit the Holiday Camp Information form for each order for each child.  So if you want to save time, book all dates you need on one order! 

Holiday Camp - Can my child be in the same group as their friend / sibling?

If the children are in the same age group, then this is not a problem.  
Children are split in the age categories of 5-7 years and 8-12 years. 

Holiday Camp - What is your Ofsted registration details?

We are Ofsted registered at all our venues meaning we can accept all school-going 5-12yr olds.

Holiday Camp - What if my child has medical requirements?

There is an opportunity to tell us any medical information when completing your Holiday Information Form. All information on the form must be completed and if any information changes before your child attends camp you must inform us by completing an re-submitting the form.  Any medicine brought to camp must be in date. Please bring in a sealed bag/container with the child’s name on it. This must be handed to the Holiday Camp Supervisor who will complete a Child Administer Medication form which gives permission for the Holiday Camp Supervisor to witness the child administering the medicine.. Upon collection, the form must be signed by yourself to acknowledge the schedule of medication administered. 

Holiday Camp - Do you take children with SEN (Special Educational Needs)?

There is an opportunity to tell us any details of your child’s needs when completing your Holiday Camp Information Form. These details will then be given to the Holiday Camp Supervisor so they can be prepared for your child’s stay with us. Please note: If your child requires one-to-one care, we are unable to offer this service, therefore, we are sorry your child will not be able to attend camp. 

Holiday Camp - Do my children need to be toilet trained to attend?

Our policy is that all children need to be toilet trained to attend. We understand that accidents can happen, and our staff are on hand to assist with any situation.  Our ratios of staff to children do not allow 1:1 care of children. 

Holiday Camp - Can I pack nuts in lunchboxes?

We have a strict NO NUTS policy, including all chocolates and spreads that contain nuts. 

Holiday Camp - My child is allergic to certain food types, what should I do?

There is an opportunity to tell us any details of your child’s allergens when completing your Holiday Camp Information form, the details will then be given to then Holiday Camp Supervisor. We can make necessary arrangements during lunchtimes and snack times to ensure your child does not have contact with any food items they may be allergic to. 

Holiday Camp - What drinks will be made available?

Please pack a refillable drinks bottle for your child. We have drinking water on site for them to regularly refill from. 

Holiday Camp - Do I need to bring a packed lunch?

Yes, if you have booked a camp with lunch not included you will need to send your child with a suitable packed lunch. Please pack morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks.   

Please also pack a refillable drinks bottle for your child. We have drinking water on site for them to regularly refill from. 

Holiday Camp - What if we are running late for registration and collection?

If on an occasion, for genuine unforeseen reasons you are running late, please telephone 01206 282000. Please respect our session arrival and collection times. Leisure World Colchester/Colchester Sports Park reserves the right to apply a penalty fee of £20, at the discretion of the Supervisor. 

Holiday Camp - When can we collect?

Normal collection time at 3.00pm and 5.30pm at Charter Hall Lobby (Leisureworld Colchester) or Main Reception Area (Colchester Sports Park). 

Holiday Camp - When can we drop off?

Normal drop off time at 8am or 9am at Charter Hall Lobby (Leisureworld Colchester) or Main Reception Area (Colchester Sports Park). 

Holiday Camp - What clothing should I send for the camp?

All participants are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the day’s activities:   

T-Shirt/sweatshirt, tracksuit bottoms, shorts or leggings and trainers are recommended.  

All jewellery and watches must be removed. Long hair (shoulder length) should be tied up.   

Please send your child with clothes suitable for outside conditions. 

Please make sure when attending Leisure World Colchester you send your child/ with their swimming costume, towel, and swimming hat.  

Please make sure when attending Colchester Sports Park if your child brings their own bike to make sure you send them with a helmet.  

Holiday Camp - Saver Rate and Flexible Rates
  • Saver Rate - As Saver Rate bookings are at discounted rates these bookings are not refundable in whole or in part (including any Extras purchased). These tickets are also not transferable.
  • Flexible Rate - Ticket can transferred to another day with 12 hours’ notice. Tickets are non-refundable.

No, we can take complete beginners on our indoor climbing wall, so even if they have never climbed before, our qualified instructor will be present to instruct those taking part on all safety aspects of climbing.  

Tiptree Summer Activities - Does my child have to participate in all activities?

We would always encourage a child to have a go and join in the activities, but if there are any activities that you feel your child does not want to do, for example climbing, then please inform the Duty Manager upon arrival.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - What is the duration of your parties?

Our Splash Time Parties run for 1.5 hours with 30 minutes unsupervised within the dedicated party room.  

Our Sports Party and Inflatable Party run for 1 hour of activities with 30 minutes unsupervised within the dedicated party room.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Do you supply food and drink for the party?

Yes we can provide hot or cold food buffet. This can be ordered at time of booking. 

You are not permitted to bring in hot food from outside of the facility. We do supply jugs of water for the party tea room.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - When can I arrive?

Please arrive at the Welcome Zone 15 minutes before the party is due to start and inform the Welcome Zone team of your arrival. They party staff will take you through to your party tea room. The party staff will then meet your guests in the  Welcome Zone and take the children and accompanying adults through to the chosen party activity. 

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Can I hang decorations up on the wall and/or ceiling?

Yes, but please use non-marking adhesives such as strings.Decorations must be removed without trace at the end of your party.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Will there be a music system available?

We do not supply a music system. You can bring your own system, but this must be battery operated. 

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Can parents stay while the party activity is taking place?

Yes, there are chairs available in the party activity area. With the Superbounce Party parents are encouraged to join in with their children.

During the Sports Parties adults may be asked to join in a the end for a fun game of football or penalty shootouts.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - What if I am late for my booking?

The session times are fixed, so if you arrive late, you will miss some of your party time. 

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Is there somewhere to make hot drinks?

We do not supply facilities where hot drinks can be made. You are able to purchase refreshments from our Coffee Shop and take these into the hall or the party tea room. Hot drinks are not permitted on poolside.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Do you have staff on duty during the party?

For Sports and Inflatable parties we aim to have 2 staff per parties.

For Splash Time parties a host will only be present if you order hot or cold food.

The dedicated party tea room will be unsupervised. The room will be set up ready for you to hang decorations and set up for the party.

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - How do we get from the party tearoom to the party activity room?

A member of staff will lead the party group from the party tearoom to where the party activity is taking place and lead them to the party tearoom once the party activity has finished.  

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - What do the children have to wear when they are taking part?

Sports or loose fitting clothing is great. If taking part in our sports party, please ensure children have trainers or similar footwear. During our Superbounce Party, shoes must be removed when using the inflatable and socks must be worn. We also ask that all jewelry is removed, and that long hair is tied back before taking part in any activity. 

 

For Swimming parties the following rules apply for swim wear

SUITABLE SWIMWEAR

  • Swimming costume/shorts/trunks designed for water-based activities 
  • Body suit or Burquini designed for water-based activities 
  • Leggings made from a Lycra based material 
  • Lycra based, ‘comfortably’ fitting top/vest. 

INAPPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR 

  • Underwear 
  • Wetsuits 
  • Denim, trousers, or jogging bottoms 
  • Loose-fitting T-shirts and tops 
  • Coats and jackets 
  • Jumpers and sweatshirts 
  • Loose fitting free flowing fabrics, not designed as swimwear 
  • Clothing made of inappropriate fabric such as cotton/wool materials that absorb water. 
Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Where do our guests get picked up from?

Guests can be picked up from the party tearoom. Please ask the collecting parents/guardians to report to reception for the location of the tearoom. 

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Can I cancel my booking?

Colchester City Council reserves the right to close or prohibit the use of any facilities, at any time if the facilities are deemed to be unfit for use. Parties will be rescheduled where possible, if not all monies paid in advance of bookings that are cancelled by Colchester City Council will be refunded. Colchester City Council will not be liable for any other expenditure incurred or loss sustained directly or indirectly by the hirer arising from the cancellation. 

  • If the customer cancels the party the £30 non-refundable deposit will not be refunded. 

  • Any cancellations by the customer made less than 14 days prior to the party will be subject to the following. 

  • 13 days – 7 days’ notice of cancellation – 50% of the full booking price retained by Colchester City Council. 

  • 6 days to 48 hours’ notice of cancellation – 75% of the full booking price retained by Colchester City Council. 

  • Less than 48 hours’ notice of cancellation – 100% of the full booking price retained by Colchester City Council.

  • All cancellations by the customer must be made by email: contact.leisureworld@colchester.gov.uk 

 

Leisure World Colchester Birthday Parties - Do you take a deposit?

Payment must be made by debit or credit card at the time of booking. This payment includes a non-refundable deposit payment of £30. Any amendments made to the booking may be subject to an administration fee at the discretion of the management. Please note the prices may be subject to a price increase at any time. 

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Is there parking available?

Yes, parking is available and is free to customers when there are spaces. 

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - What is the duration of the party?

The first hour is play time and then up to 45 minutes to eat. During the time to eat, both bouncy castles are turned off - if you finish the food a little earlier, we will switch on the smaller bouncy castle on if the children wish to play. All other bouncy castle will remain closed.

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Where do I need to go?

Please enter the building and make yourself known to a member of staff. If there are no staff in the reception area, please press the Duty Manager call button on the wall and a member of staff will make their way to you as soon as possible.

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Is there anywhere to get a hot drink?

Unfortunately, we do not have a café on site to supply hot drinks. However, we can offer you the use of a kettle and jugs of water to re-fill the kettle if needed. Please let us know when booking your party that you will require the kettle. Please note that you will have to bring your own cups and supplies.  

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Are there tables and chairs available in the party hall?

Yes, the staff will set up the table and chairs for you before you arrive. However, you are welcome to move the tables and chairs to suit your needs. Please ask a member of staff for assistance if required. 

We also supply jugs of water where you can add your own squash if you wish.

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Is there a power source in the party hall if I wanted to play music?

We do not supply a music system. You can bring your own system, but this must be battery operated.

Sports or loose fitting clothing is great. At our Tots and/or Jungle party, shoes must be removed once in the party activity area and socks must be worn. We also ask that all jewellery is removed, and that long hair is tied back before taking part in any activity. Also, if possible, ensure glasses are secured with a strap or if they can be removed to avoid damage. 

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Can parents stay while the party activity is taking place?

Yes, there are benches and chairs in the party activity area for parents to sit and watch. 

Leisure World Highwood Birthday Parties - Do we have to tidy the party hall after all our guests have gone home?

A member of staff will show you to the party tearoom when you arrive. Tables and chairs will be set up for you before you arrive. However, you are welcome to move the tables and chairs to suit your needs. Please ask a member of staff for assistance if required.

A member of staff will lead the party group from the party tearoom to where the party activity is taking place and lead them back from the party activity to the party tearoom once the party activity has finished.

Unfortunately, we do not have a café on site to supply hot drinks. However, we can offer you an urn for boiling water and jugs of water to re-fill the urn if needed. Please let us know when booking your party that you will require the urn. Please note that you will have to bring your own mugs.

Sports or loose fitting clothing is great. If taking part in our sports party, please ensure children have trainers or similar footwear. Yes you have the option of cold or hot food at an additional cost. You must give us 14 days notice for any party food bookings including any allergens. You are more than welcome to bring in your own cold but but you are not permitted to bring in any hot food.

British Cycling Sessions and Courses - Can I hire a bike?

Yes.  Bike hire is a separate charge from the lesson. In order to hire a bike, you will need to present a form of photographic ID (e.g. Driving License or Passport) which will keep information from on our booking system for 6 months and then you will have to renew. 

British Cycling Sessions and Courses - What happens during adverse weather conditions?

During adverse weather conditions; outside facilities may need to be cancelled for Health and Safety reasons.  If your lesson is unfortunate to encounter this we will look to relocate your party (subject to availability), and if this is not possible we will allow your party to be rebooked (subject to availability) on a future date and if neither options are possible a full refund will be given. 

British Cycling Sessions and Courses - Can I cancel or move my booking?

If you cancel a session, you must give at least 48 hours notice, in order for no charge to apply.  Failure to do so will result in a charge being applied to the booking where the session and facilities booked are deemed suitable for use by Colchester City Council.

Transfer requests are subject to availability and at management discretion.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - What facilities do you have at Aqua Springs?

We have a Spa Pool, two Hydrotherapy Spas, two Saunas, an Aromatherapy Room, a Salt Inhalation Room, a Steam Room, a Cool Pool, an Ice Cold Plunge Pool, a Monsoon Shower, a Lounger Area and a poolside Coffee Shop.

A private hire includes the use of the facilities listed above, beauty treatments and use of our Treatment Rooms are not included in the hire agreement.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - Is there a minimum age for people to use Aqua Springs?

Our facilities are strictly for use by customers aged 16 and above.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - Can I book a Private Hire and pay later?

No, payment in full will be required at the time of booking.

For a private hire, you can have up to 100 guests.

We have separate male and female communal changing rooms with showers and toilets.  We also have two accessible changing rooms and an accessible toilet.  All of our lockers take a £1 coin or locker token.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - Do you have shampoo & body wash at the facilities?

Yes, but they are not complimentary.  We sell small bottles of shampoo, shower gel and conditioner bottles at Aqua Springs reception.  They are priced at £1.50 for one or £2.50 for two.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - Can I hire a towel or robe?

Yes, this can be arranged on arrival, there is a £5 charge and a £15 returnable deposit per item.

Aqua Springs Private Hire - Will the Coffee Shop be open?

Yes, the Coffee Shop will be open for the duration of your booking.

We have cubicle changing rooms with showers and toilets.  We also have an accessible toilet.  All of our lockers take a 9mm clasp padlock. These can be purchased at main reception on the day at a charge of £5.

Parking is free for any customers using the facility. Simply park in the Leisure World car park and enter your registration number into our validation system upon arrival.

Leisure Pool Private Hire - Do you have a room available to hire?

Yes, our Function Room is available to hire for £30. This allows you to book for up to 30 guests attending.

You will need to set up and clear away after yourselves.

Hot and Cold food is premitted within the Function Room Area.

No food is allowed to be taken or consumed on poolside.
